The Banker Tech Talk interview: ‘PQShield warns of quantum threat’

A few months ago, Dr. Ali El Kaafarani, CEO and Founder of PQShield, virtually sat down with Joy Macknight, Editor of The Banker (an FT publication), to discuss one of the most disruptive innovations to hit the financial markets in decades: quantum computers.

It is an issue which is increasingly attracting the attention of leading banks like J.P. Morgan and Barclays alongside regulators like the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, which recently co-hosted a workshop with the Bank of England where attendees concluded that “[Quantum Information Technologies] poses a threat to the integrity and stability of financial services.”

Ali’s interview was published this month as a part of The Banker’s ‘Tech Talk’ series, which profiles financial services’ disruptors. Ali and Joy discussed the cybersecurity risks that may arise from quantum computers and the solutions that banks should be considering including post-quantum cryptography to combat the quantum threat.

They also touched on the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Post-Quantum Standardisation Project and what banks can do to prepare ahead of the publication of the final ‘winning’ algorithms later this year.

It was a super-insightful and timely conversation so check it out at the link here!
