Thomas Espitau is a lead researcher at PQShield, where he’s been exploring the mathematical depths of cryptography since 2023. Before joining PQShield, he worked as a researcher at NTT in Japan. His work lies at the intersection of abstract mathematics and real-world cryptographic applications, with a particular enthusiasm for lattice problems. As he likes to say, “The more symmetries, the more fun.” While he’s passionate about the theory, Thomas also cares deeply about practice—especially the secure and high-performance implementation of cryptographic schemes. When he’s not busy bending lattices to his will, Thomas is likely chasing waves or carving lines through fresh powder. A free surfer and free skier at heart, he’s always on the lookout for the next great spot—whether the snow is falling heavily or the swell is pumping hard.
