Pedro is our senior cryptography hardware engineer, working in the engineering team to help produce the best hardware IPs. He contributes to different stages of development: design, review, verification, and tooling. He joined PQShield in August 2020, and completed his PhD the following year.

Working in academia has helped Pedro gain experience at solving problems as though they were potatoes: boil them, mash them, and stick them in a stew. In other words, not every problem can be solved with the same technique, but all problems can be chopped into smaller, more edible parts. In writing papers, presenting, and teaching undergrad students, he loves using analogies for explanations.

In his spare time, Pedro enjoys random walks, cooking, baking cakes, playing video games, excessively using emojis, creating memes and making jokes.

Pedro’s PhD thesis, entitled “Secure cryptographic implementations in hardware: A delicious adventure”, explains him well – his passion being baking, and his approach to life as an adventure!
