Our very own Dr Thomas Prest presented at Crypto 2019 in Santa Barbara this week to a great reaction.
Unifying Leakage Models on a Rényi Day
The real-life motivation for this paper is side-channel leakage of information, which can seriously impact the security of deployed cryptographic schemes. Leakage models provide a theoretical framework to prove the security of implementations in the presence of side-channel leakage. However, previous models suffered from very inefficient proofs, which limited their applicability. This new work provides new leakage models, which benefit from more efficient proofs. This helps closing the gap between the theory and practice of side-channel countermeasures.
