Every year, the RSA conference brings together thousands of cybersecurity professionals, thought-leaders and experts for key insight and discussion into the latest trends and developments in the world of information security. We were, once again, thrilled to be there at the Moscone Center, San Francisco – to exhibit, debate, and discuss all things PQC.
This year, we demonstrated alongside our partners such as AMD, Lattice, Pone, and MindLink, showing how our high-performance, high-security, quantum-safe IP can be deployed to both hardware and software. We exhibited our PQPlatform Subsystem operating on Lattice Certus Pro FPGA, as well as our quantum-safe collaboration with MindLink, and PQPerform, working on AMD’s Versal adaptive SoC.

It was particularly exciting to see PQC as one of the mainline discussions at RSA. The topic sparked countless interactions with stakeholders – including conversations we had around the journey of device and application ecosystems towards quantum resilience. From FPGA manufacturers and HSM vendors to key management solution providers and application designers, we were able to discuss the upcoming opportunities and challenges in depth. It’s always great to gain valuable insights, and it certainly helped us confirm that at PQShield, we’re aligned with the current thinking and direction of travel.
With NIST standards imminent, and ISO due to follow with their own guidance, the pressure is on for vendors to migrate to PQC. Key component providers in the supply chain are already making product decisions in order to facilitate the transition. For example, Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) are a critical part of the supply chain, providing encryption and decryption security for wider enterprises.
It was wonderful to be able to show how solutions like PQPerform-Lattice can add PQC for high-performance use-cases, and meet the high demand for a performance post-quantum solution. Additionally, we’ve found that many of our customers have a common requirement for secure boot, with support for the full range of PQC signature schemes – LMS, XMSS, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA. It’s a huge challenge, but thankfully, PQShield can help.

“For us, the show was one of the best of the year so far,” says Ben Packman, PQShield Chief Strategy Officer. “We had a big team at RSA 2024, and we were all busy with customers way into the evenings. It’s been fantastic to demonstrate alongside our partners, as well as work with key customers in sessions such as panels, discussions and breakout events, including those by Deloitte and Thales.” Our VP Engineering, Graeme Hickey, also took part on a panel with our friends Microchip and SiFive on a panel regarding “Progress in Standardizing Cryptography Extensions for RISC-V Processors”.

In addition, it was also a pleasure to welcome our two newest members to Team PQShield at RSA: Janssen Liston, Senior Sales Director – North America, and Johannes Lintzen, our Global Business Development Director. Both are based in California, and bring a wealth of experience to their roles. We’re really delighted to have them with us.

“I truly feel we are at an inflection point in the industry, with standards and regulations being the catalyst for migration towards PQC,” reflects Johannes. “Most conversations at RSA were more focused on implementation rather than discovery this year, and the discussion felt much more concrete. It’s good to be off to a great start with PQShield.”

RSA is always an excellent event, bringing together people at the forefront of information security. This year reinforced the fact that the topic of quantum security, the way in which the world can protect its information from the inevitable quantum threat, is moving rapidly from the sidelines. There was even a live artist at one session, capturing the conversation in real-time! There’s little doubt that PQC is accelerating, and our mission – to update the world’s technology supply chain, modernizing the legacy components that are at risk – seems more prescient than ever. At RSA 2024, we were perfectly positioned to bring our expertise, our incredible team, and our world-class solutions to the conversation.
